This is Episode 3 of the Dance of Dreams.

Speaker:

Prepare yourself for the fear that will flow into your soul.

Speaker:

Well, it seems you've returned to hear more about our society members.

Speaker:

Last we heard, everything had sort of gone sideways.

Speaker:

After finding the entirety of the inn asleep, with the exception of our

Speaker:

society members and Sammy, the group headed upstairs to meet with everyone.

Speaker:

Helena.

Speaker:

There, they found an entrance to the attic, climbed up, and found Sophia.

Speaker:

Sophia presented a shadow puppet play, but her voice slowly changed into something

Speaker:

that was quite eerie and unusual.

Speaker:

The next thing they know, a ghostly apparition shows themselves and then

Speaker:

flies through their bodies, freezing Helena in place and knocking the good

Speaker:

Preacher to the ground after Sophia was released from the ghost's clutch.

Speaker:

She spoke with the society members and eventually they made

Speaker:

their way to her mother's room.

Speaker:

Additionally, there was a checkup on the owner of the inn, Sammy.

Speaker:

It seems he felt it was Nora's ghost and ran out to the greenhouse

Speaker:

asking her to forgive him.

Speaker:

As he was coaxed back into the room.

Speaker:

Into the inn.

Speaker:

Something too cold of him it seemed, and ran him upstairs where

Speaker:

he locked himself into a room.

Speaker:

That's where we will begin this part of the story.

Speaker:

Alright, so we come right back.

Speaker:

Um, you all, as I said, we're all upstairs, two doors.

Speaker:

Now shut.

Speaker:

Sophia seen her father run into one room and you all at, uh, two

Speaker:

of you at the other room's door.

Speaker:

What do you wish to do?

Erik:

You see Klaus is sweating.

Erik:

His sweat drips into, uh, the water running down his face.

Erik:

Uh, he said something about paying for his sins, so I don't think we

Erik:

should leave him by for too long.

Erik:

People like that don't, well, I don't think he's going to a preacher.

Erik:

We should get in there.

Evelyn:

Do you, uh, propose we do that?

Erik:

I was thinking about breaking down the door, but,

Erik:

uh, I'm noticing that Should we

Evelyn:

see if it's unlocked first, before we start breaking down doors?

Evelyn:

Um, and she'll actually just sort of, um, Wearily, uh, she'll, uh, Sorry.

Evelyn:

I will kind of warily, um, move toward the door that he disappeared behind.

Evelyn:

And slowly, uh, reach up and rap on the wood with a knuckle.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: And as you do that, you, you don't hear a response.

Evelyn:

You do hear what sounds like furniture being moved.

Evelyn:

That doesn't sound promising.

Evelyn:

Um, and so I'll reach down and try the doorknob.

Evelyn:

Let's see if it's unlocked.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: It is locked.

Evelyn:

Okay, door's locked, so we might have to break down the door.

Evelyn:

Then he's moving furniture in there, which can mean many things, but, uh,

Evelyn:

most of them do not, uh, end well.

Evelyn:

With someone who is in a bad state of mind, so we should

Evelyn:

probably be expeditious about it.

Erik:

Yeah, I gotta be honest, I haven't been inspired to

Erik:

rearrange in a rainstorm before.

Robert:

I walk over to Tova, seeing that she was having problems,

Robert:

difficulty breathing, and offer her my arm to steady, uh, steady herself.

Robert:

Are you okay,

TeaCat:

Tova?

TeaCat:

Take

Robert:

a moment.

Robert:

My

TeaCat:

bones are getting to me, doctor.

TeaCat:

And I try to, I stand up straight and you can hear like every back

TeaCat:

bone in her spine just kind of click into place, which, which happens.

TeaCat:

In real life, too.

TeaCat:

Ha

Evelyn:

ha ha.

Robert:

I love the jokes of aging.

Evelyn:

Yeah.

Evelyn:

I am not, uh, very good at breaking down doors.

Evelyn:

Has anyone Well Don't look at me.

Evelyn:

I was not going to suggest to you, dear.

Evelyn:

Ha

Robert:

ha ha.

Robert:

But, uh I get the feeling everybody does the same thing

Robert:

I do, and that's Look at Klaus.

Erik:

Uh, Klaus kind of braces himself on the opposing door.

Erik:

Alright, I'll give it a shot.

Erik:

Come on, old shoulder, don't fail me now.

TeaCat:

Oh, this ought to be amusing.

Erik:

So, what sort of check is this?

Erik:

Force?

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Oh yeah, this is force.

Erik:

Alright, so force is physique.

Erik:

I have zero in force and two in physique.

Evelyn:

You're built like me!

Evelyn:

Hey, that's, that's, that's You're built just like me.

Evelyn:

Here we

Erik:

go!

Erik:

I'm strong!

Erik:

Uh, they were natural ones, both of them.

Evelyn:

Wow.

Evelyn:

That is

Erik:

Uh, can I, can I, can I

Robert:

push

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: this roll, Terry?

Robert:

Yes, you can push

Robert:

the roll.

Robert:

This party has absolutely This party apparently has absolutely zero brawn.

Evelyn:

I am a writer, I do not do brawny things.

Evelyn:

That, the push, will

Erik:

get me one success.

Erik:

Is it, is

TeaCat:

it a physique roll?

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: It was a physique roll.

TeaCat:

Tola will, Tola's going to walk up, notice a young

TeaCat:

whippersnapper, embrace yourself.

TeaCat:

And she's, I'm going to back up, square my shoulders, and I am going to run

TeaCat:

because Tova has a physique of five.

TeaCat:

Holy cow!

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Tova has a physique of five.

TeaCat:

Tova, Tova is our role.

TeaCat:

Well hold on Tova, he broke it down already.

TeaCat:

Oh,

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: well I cleared

TeaCat:

the

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: doorway.

TeaCat:

He pushed his role.

TeaCat:

It would have been helpful though because now he's going to take a condition.

TeaCat:

Uh,

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: with that, uh, with, with Klaus, well,

TeaCat:

I thought the young one had it,

Evelyn:

that explains how all the dusting gets done underneath all of the furniture,

TeaCat:

not a speck in my presence.

Evelyn:

I've noticed.

Evelyn:

It's very impressive.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: You're going to be, uh, battered on that one.

Evelyn:

All right.

Evelyn:

So go ahead.

Evelyn:

Mark your battered.

Robert:

What is, uh, hold on a second.

Robert:

I, I, I walk over to Klaus and say, well done, uh, let me

Robert:

take a look at that shoulder.

Robert:

Uh, before you do that, you may

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: want me to say what you see once that door comes down.

Erik:

Yeah, Klaus puts his shoulder into it, the bruise starts

Erik:

immediately, Tova slams into the back of him, ah, bruise is there.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: As the door

Erik:

Gets pushed off its hinges and collapses onto the wooden floorboards below.

Erik:

You see Sammy step off the desk,

Erik:

the rope around his neck,

Erik:

and he begins to hang.

Robert:

I rush in and try to grab his legs.

Robert:

Just, I can't, I don't have the strength to really lift him.

Robert:

Maybe you

Evelyn:

should let Tova do the lifting.

TeaCat:

Here I come, doctor.

TeaCat:

And I heave and oh, trying to push him up.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Uh, you do, you're, you're, you're holding him up.

TeaCat:

He is no longer choking.

TeaCat:

You do hear him say,

TeaCat:

Let me

Robert:

go.

Robert:

I deserve this.

Robert:

I climb the desk that he jumped off of, um, and pull a scalpel out of my

Robert:

physician bag, and start cutting the rope.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Fairly easy with that scalpel, the rope cuts

Robert:

and Sammy kind of falls to the floor slowly as Tova guides him down the rope

Robert:

still hanging loosely from his neck.

Robert:

With utter disdain, I get off the desk and kneel next to him.

Robert:

What are you thinking, man?

Robert:

You have a daughter.

Robert:

What would she be in this life without her father?

Robert:

She still needs you.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Oh, I deserve to die.

Robert:

Oh, I'm, I'm guilty.

Robert:

Guilty of what?

Robert:

And you ask him that.

Robert:

I, I'm guilty.

Robert:

Is he?

Robert:

And he doesn't answer the question.

Robert:

I'm guilty.

Robert:

I am guilty.

Robert:

And he just kind of is repeating the I'm guilty.

TeaCat:

Well, guilty of something along the way or another.

TeaCat:

And I start, uh, taking the noose off of his neck.

Robert:

In order to avoid him doing any further harm to himself, I will

Robert:

reach into my bag and pull out.

Robert:

Some medicine to help him sleep.

Robert:

So we don't have to worry about him attempting to kill himself

Robert:

while we investigate further.

Robert:

Alright.

Robert:

Perhaps someone should try to find his keys.

TeaCat:

Ah, smart as always, doctor.

TeaCat:

And I start looking for the keys.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: And they're on his belt.

TeaCat:

Uh, they're on a key ring.

Erik:

Um, Close, uh, I pull, uh, my Bible out from my, my jacket again.

Erik:

Kinda wipe the gentleman's hair from his eyes.

Erik:

Look son, uh, we're all looking for redemption, but you're

Erik:

going the wrong way about it.

Erik:

We have redemption through his blood.

Erik:

And the forgiveness for our trespassings, according to the riches of his grace.

Erik:

This ain't the way out of this, son.

Erik:

Um, and I kind of just sit next to him as he's drifting off to sleep.

TeaCat:

Maybe run that by him when he's, um, more coherent.

TeaCat:

And I taught the keys to Helena.

Evelyn:

Thank you.

Evelyn:

I, um, I think I should go unlock Thedorius.

Evelyn:

Um, and so she'll, she'll, she'll, she'll, she'll, she'll, she'll, she'll,

Evelyn:

she'll, she'll, Snag those keys and sort of make my way to where the mother's

Evelyn:

room Was pointed out to us and I'll How many and when I look at the key ring

Evelyn:

how many keys are on the on the ring?

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: There's just like three

Evelyn:

Okay, so I will

Evelyn:

Look look through them see when we'll see which one seems to be used the least

Evelyn:

I would assume And try that one first

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: and it unlocks

Evelyn:

For a moment my breath catches on my chest as I hear the click of the lock

Evelyn:

and I'll Turn the doorknob and push the door open ever so slightly The rest of

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: us are still in the other room, correct?

Evelyn:

Correct, as far as I know.

Evelyn:

Does anybody want to come join me or am I doing this by myself?

Robert:

While this is happening, Tove, give me a hand.

Robert:

Let's get him on the bed.

TeaCat:

Oh, um, and I look up at the doctor giving that look of help.

TeaCat:

I'm stuck.

TeaCat:

Pull me up.

Robert:

Oh, and he offers her, uh, I offer her my hand, Norm.

Robert:

Bless you, Doctor.

TeaCat:

And I creak as I try to get up and stand up.

TeaCat:

Uh, to the bed only, right?

TeaCat:

Yes.

TeaCat:

Yes.

TeaCat:

Okay.

TeaCat:

I'll take the head.

TeaCat:

I take the, like,

Erik:

I stand up and, uh, I kind of wait back.

Erik:

I'll go make sure the doctor doesn't get us in any more trouble, knowing that

Erik:

I have caused all the trouble so far.

TeaCat:

You're getting the stank eye from Tova as she heaves

TeaCat:

and haws the body to the bed.

Robert:

Once, once we get the body to the bed, um, I, Tova, I, when

Robert:

we get downstairs, um, when we do go back downstairs, remind me to

Robert:

give you something for the pain.

TeaCat:

Bless you, Doctor.

TeaCat:

Um, uh, just a little rest.

TeaCat:

Be right as rain.

TeaCat:

Can't hold these old bones back.

TeaCat:

Best help Miss Helena now.

TeaCat:

And I start wobbling towards Elena

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: So you are heading towards Elena.

TeaCat:

Is is, is everybody going to

Robert:

Yes, I, I'm following.

Robert:

Okay.

Robert:

Um, once, uh, the last of us leave the room though, I close the door behind us.

Robert:

Uh, it's off

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: it's hinges on the ground.

Robert:

Oh, it's off, nevermind.

Robert:

Well, that's true.

Robert:

. Evelyn: Yes.

Robert:

I, I think for a moment about trying to pull

Robert:

it up and it's like, yeah, no

Robert:

And, and walk back over to where, uh, Helena and, uh, Tova now are.

Robert:

Okay.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Alright.

Robert:

You, the door's open, you look inside, there's a bed, a desk, a closet with

Robert:

clothes, a bookcase, a large number of paintings, everything is layered in dust.

Robert:

It appears as if nothing has been done.

Robert:

Touched in here in

Robert:

at, at least six months, probably a year,

Erik:

I go over to investigate some of the shelves.

Robert:

Is there a desk in here?

Robert:

Yes.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Yes.

Robert:

I walk over to the desk and start looking for.

Robert:

These notes Not entirely sure what I'm looking for other than thinking it.

Robert:

I'm not sure if it's a journal or just loose piece of paper

Robert:

I'll lose sheets of paper

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right, give me one second

Erik:

I

TeaCat:

just start talking out in the room.

TeaCat:

He kept mentioning his wife Noah And he went stop

TeaCat:

But as, uh, the priest said, he freaked out as soon as we got here.

TeaCat:

So, um

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: So, as you all are all looking through the

TeaCat:

room, I need Let me rephrase that.

TeaCat:

Tova, you feel a tingling sensation.

TeaCat:

sensation in your body, almost as if something's creeping up your back.

TeaCat:

I need you to give me an observation roll.

TeaCat:

Okay.

TeaCat:

So that is four dice for me.

TeaCat:

Uh,

TeaCat:

there is no success.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Okay.

TeaCat:

I need to make a roll.

TeaCat:

One second.

TeaCat:

Oh, that one flew up.

TeaCat:

Damn it.

TeaCat:

All right.

TeaCat:

All right.

TeaCat:

I am, uh, I'm DMing you something.

TeaCat:

Please read that.

TeaCat:

You all continue to look through the various items in the room.

Evelyn:

Now, Sophia told us that she believed her mother was dead, correct?

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Correct.

Evelyn:

And two members of this group have heard Um, I've heard Sammy yell to what

Evelyn:

one would assume is the ghost of Nora.

Evelyn:

And okay.

Evelyn:

So we're basically investigating this room right now as part of the investigation.

Evelyn:

I would like to use my talent for automatic writing to see if maybe we

Evelyn:

can get something from Nora's spirit.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Oh, fascinating.

Evelyn:

Uh, let me see automatic writing.

Evelyn:

You said, correct?

Evelyn:

That's my, um, writer talent.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right.

Evelyn:

Um, so channeling spirits through automatic writing, you can

Evelyn:

use inspiration to gain clues.

Evelyn:

All right.

Evelyn:

Extra successes reveal more clues.

Evelyn:

All right, um, go ahead and Do you are you?

Evelyn:

Sitting at the desk for this.

Evelyn:

Are you standing up writing in your book?

Evelyn:

What does this look like?

Evelyn:

So, um, She sees the doctor sort of pulls I see the doctor pull,

Evelyn:

um some some things, um from the desk um And as Kenny as he's uh going

Evelyn:

through them i'll i'll come over and say um You If you don't mind, I, um,

Evelyn:

perhaps I can set up here and get us a little, a little more information.

Robert:

I would be grateful for the assistance.

Robert:

And he, he takes a step aside to give her some room.

Evelyn:

And I'll pull my, my satchel over.

Evelyn:

And, um, I'll begin to dig through the bag for a fresh sheet of paper,

Evelyn:

lay it on, on the desk, um, and I drag the, the chair out and the, the feet

Evelyn:

actually kind of squeal on the floor a bit, and then I realize and lift it,

Evelyn:

um, into place, and I sort of position myself where I'm kind of perched on

Evelyn:

the edge of the seat, but relaxed.

Evelyn:

And I reach up and find, sort of feel through all of the things in

Evelyn:

my hair and find a very particular writing utensil and I'll pull it free.

Evelyn:

It's slightly different from the other ones that I use on a regular basis.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: I start

TeaCat:

mumbling to myself and my hands start to shake and I start to kind

TeaCat:

of rock back and forth on my hands.

TeaCat:

You all didn't think Tova was smart enough, and you all wanted to get

TeaCat:

rid of me just because I wasn't all fancy, like the rest of you, with your

TeaCat:

education, and your books, and your pens.

TeaCat:

And you, Priest, with thou holier than anyone else in this room, you've had

TeaCat:

it in for old Tova the entire time.

TeaCat:

All Tova's too old, too brittle.

TeaCat:

All Tova's going to get the last laugh here.

TeaCat:

None of you is going to make it out.

TeaCat:

And I take out my revolver and shoot at the first person who is closest to me.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: And now we do roll for our first ever initiative,

TeaCat:

but we don't roll in this game.

TeaCat:

Um, the way this is works is, uh, with cards usually, and I had not yet found a,

TeaCat:

uh, good way to, uh, to draw a card yet.

TeaCat:

Um, so what we are going to do

Robert:

is Remind me to check for I should have cards somewhere.

Robert:

I can possibly assist with this, but Oh, you have a deck like right near you?

Robert:

I, I, I'd have, well Is it regular cards or do I'm, I have to see whether or not

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: It's just one through ten.

Robert:

It's one through

Robert:

ten.

Robert:

I, I, I'm, I'm not sure if I got, if I received cards with my basin because I

Robert:

literally bought everything that they had.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Oh,

Robert:

nice.

Robert:

So, um, yeah, I, I don't have them, uh, I don't have Not

Robert:

sure what I do and do not have.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Well, that's fine.

Robert:

I found a random, uh, generator, and so I'm gonna draw for you guys in order,

Robert:

uh, the order that I will be drawing.

Robert:

So you'll just need to remember your number.

Robert:

It'll be, uh, Tova, then Helena, Klaus, and Doctor.

Robert:

Okay?

Robert:

So, four cards.

Robert:

Tova, you have a seven.

Robert:

Helena, a six.

Robert:

Uh, doctor, a queen, or I'm sorry, not doctor, uh, Klaus, a queen, doctor,

Robert:

a two, and so who has the lowest one?

Robert:

Uh, I believe I do.

Robert:

So doctor, you will be first.

Robert:

Who has the six?

Robert:

Helena will be second.

Robert:

Who had the seven?

Robert:

Yep.

Robert:

So Dr.

Robert:

Helena, all right.

Robert:

So on an initiative role, you get one slow action and one fast action,

Robert:

and you can find those actions or examples of actions on page 60.

Robert:

It's got typical close actions, typical fast actions.

Robert:

Now, I am allowing.

Robert:

Tova to have already drawn the weapon.

Robert:

So that will not need to be your fast action when we get to you.

Robert:

Um, there are reactions in here as well under the fast action.

Robert:

Obviously you have to not use a fast action during your turn to

Robert:

use the reaction fast action.

Robert:

So we begin with the doctor.

Robert:

You heard what Tova said.

Robert:

Um, So, I am going to, for typical slow action, um, actually for fast,

Robert:

let's put it this way, for fast action, uh, I'm gonna see if there's anything I

Robert:

should be doing with that first before.

Robert:

Um, Um, For fast action, is she on the far side of the desk from us?

Robert:

So when you walked

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: in, um, I would say, uh, probably the

Robert:

closest to her is probably Klaus.

Robert:

Klaus, what were you looking at?

Erik:

I was looking at the shelves.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Okay.

Erik:

Yeah.

Erik:

So Klaus is the closest.

Erik:

Uh, the desk is farther from the door.

Erik:

So I would say, uh, it would be Klaus, then probably Helena if she was about

Erik:

to sit down, and then the doctor.

Robert:

So, for fast action, I want to move within the zone, and basically

Robert:

close the distance towards her.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Alright.

Robert:

Uh, for my slow action, we're gonna go with, uh, Persuade.

Robert:

And, Tova, it is me, you know that.

Robert:

I have never taken your service for granted.

Robert:

I have never treated you with anything but respect.

Robert:

You are, you are the closest thing I have to a, a friend.

Robert:

You are, in many ways, my one confidant.

Robert:

I know that this is not you.

Robert:

All that we have shared.

Robert:

Please, put the gun down.

Robert:

Um, and that's when I want to use the bonus that I had for the

Robert:

manipulate from my Uh, Advantage.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Alright.

Robert:

Let's see.

Robert:

Um, so yeah, so that's going to be a manipulation roll to trade or

Robert:

purchase item, okay, success you get what you want, failure means

Robert:

that the other person distrusted.

Robert:

Alright, alright, let's go ahead with the roll then.

Robert:

So it was a, it was a plus two I got for that?

Robert:

Yes, for

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: your

Robert:

advantage.

Robert:

Alright, so that is a total of seven.

Robert:

Alright.

Robert:

Uh, that went well.

Robert:

Alright.

Robert:

So far, hold on, last one, ooh, that is three successes out of seven.

Robert:

So

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: she will, you wanted her to put the gun down.

Robert:

Yes.

Robert:

She will listen to you regarding putting the gun down and instead

Robert:

she raises her fists, Helena, you've seen the doctors managed to get her

Robert:

to put the gun down, but there's still something going on with Tova.

Evelyn:

Right.

Evelyn:

It's.

Evelyn:

Um, I want to survey the situation, see if I can figure out, you know,

Evelyn:

anything more that's going on.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: So are you, can you describe what you're doing?

Evelyn:

Are you looking at her, studying her habits or movements?

Evelyn:

Um,

Evelyn:

I'm trying to assess if she seems to be possessed or if

Evelyn:

she's just having a mental break.

Evelyn:

Like, if it's something more that's going on with her than just, you know, she's

Evelyn:

had a really rough day and she feels like taking it out on somebody, you know?

Evelyn:

Um, so yes.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right.

Evelyn:

So let me, that is a, uh, vigilance to interpret the situation.

Evelyn:

Okay.

Evelyn:

Go ahead and give me a vigilance roll then.

Evelyn:

Okay, so I don't have anything added, but it would be my logic straight.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Mm

Evelyn:

hmm

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: and just so everybody Okay, and so everybody

Evelyn:

sees I did it for both of the first two I'm looking for you guys to

Evelyn:

describe what you're doing before just asking to roll something So just keep

Evelyn:

that in mind as we go through this.

Evelyn:

No one six one success All

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: right Um It appears, as you look at her, that she

Evelyn:

is being controlled by something else.

Evelyn:

It feels very similar to what was happening with Sophia.

Evelyn:

Alright, um, and for my

Evelyn:

Yeah, for my fast action then, I'm gonna take cover behind So, I, I, I Actually

Evelyn:

just kind of slip, um, between the desk and the chair and where the, my legs would

Evelyn:

have been since I was already closed.

Evelyn:

So I'll just kind of slide in there to kind of take cover and continue

Evelyn:

studying the situation as, as I do.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: We go to Tova.

Evelyn:

Tova.

Evelyn:

Um, as I said, uh, you saw what I, um, put, uh, in yours, um, your fists are up.

Evelyn:

You, you relinquished the gun.

Evelyn:

Uh, there was something about what the doctor said that pushed through

Evelyn:

what is happening and had you put down the gun so as at minimum not

Evelyn:

to cause instant, um, instant death.

Evelyn:

What do you do?

TeaCat:

Um, who is the closest person

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: to me?

TeaCat:

It's the doctor now.

TeaCat:

He's right up in your face.

TeaCat:

Oh, doctor.

TeaCat:

Always trying to pull one on Otova.

TeaCat:

Smart one you are.

TeaCat:

Clever one you are, aren't you?

TeaCat:

Didn't think I'd see through it.

TeaCat:

Didn't see, think I'd see you mocking me.

TeaCat:

Behind my own back.

TeaCat:

And I will clock you.

TeaCat:

The doctor.

TeaCat:

I knew it was coming.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right, so that's gonna be uh,

TeaCat:

of course a close combat role.

TeaCat:

Um, So you need my

TeaCat:

physique plus my plus close

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: combat.

TeaCat:

Yeah.

TeaCat:

How many is that?

TeaCat:

That is six guys Okay

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Poor doctor.

TeaCat:

I'm, so sorry

TeaCat:

One

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: only one success.

TeaCat:

Okay.

TeaCat:

Thank god.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Okay Uh, you reel back and deck the Doctor,

TeaCat:

uh, and this is unarmed, so it is, I believe, just one condition.

TeaCat:

I'm going to double check that, uh, right now.

TeaCat:

Uh, and so, Doctor, you're going to take one condition, and why don't we

TeaCat:

make it the, um, Um, I'll allow you to pick either battered or wounded.

Robert:

What's the difference between battered and wounded?

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: In the long run, absolutely nothing.

Robert:

Your pride.

Robert:

From a, uh, let's go with battered.

Robert:

Mostly because of the fact that right now he's, um, he's a little medicated.

Robert:

All

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: right.

Robert:

Um, and.

Robert:

Uh, are you holding your typical for a reaction or, or your fast,

Robert:

holding your fast for a reaction?

TeaCat:

Yeah, I think I'll hold them like that.

TeaCat:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right, Klaus, you've seen all

TeaCat:

that is currently going on.

TeaCat:

What do you do?

Erik:

Tova, you're acting crazy, girl!

Erik:

Uh, and I'm rushing over to try and, uh, grapple Tova.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right, so a, uh, grapple.

Erik:

Which is a Force yes, I

Erik:

have none of that.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: I was just about to say this could be a lovely

Erik:

That is actually one success

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right So three

Erik:

three to six.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Yeah, you are successful.

Erik:

You've got her grappled

Erik:

as you grab hold Of her after she has wailed away on the good doctor, you see,

Erik:

as something changes, Tovo, what happens?

TeaCat:

I just kind of take in a deep breath and my body just

TeaCat:

kind of slumps for a minute

TeaCat:

and I start rapidly blinking.

TeaCat:

What, what is going on?

TeaCat:

Klaus, doctor, the, the priest has made his moves on Otova.

TeaCat:

Get him off!

Erik:

I have done no such a thing, and he'll stand up and put her down.

Erik:

I was just, you were acting, and then the gun, and then I was scared for my life,

Erik:

and you punched the doctor in the mouth.

TeaCat:

He's been beseeched by my womanly wild stock to get him off me.

Erik:

If he had any, maybe, but no.

Robert:

Klaus, that is not helpful.

Robert:

Tova.

TeaCat:

And I straightened myself up.

TeaCat:

Um.

Robert:

How do you feel?

Robert:

Uh.

Robert:

And meanwhile, Doctor's kind of like, rubbing his chin and, I'm rubbing

Robert:

my chin and wiping probably a bit of blood from, uh, the, where she

Robert:

clocked me partially on the lip.

Robert:

I'll

Evelyn:

peer out from underneath the desk.

Evelyn:

Is, is, is, is she okay now?

Evelyn:

I

TeaCat:

don't know, Doctor.

TeaCat:

I, it's all fuzzy, but for some reason, um, my right eye.

TeaCat:

Knuckle hurts.

TeaCat:

What about you, doctor?

TeaCat:

What hap what happened to your face?

TeaCat:

You're a mess of sorts.

TeaCat:

And I take out my handkerchief and start wiping out his face.

Robert:

You you you

TeaCat:

You

Robert:

know how you have teased me in the past of being hard headed at times?

Robert:

Well, Let's just say your fist found out how hard headed I could be.

Robert:

Come, sit.

Robert:

Sit.

Robert:

Sit.

Robert:

Please.

Robert:

Please.

TeaCat:

I'm so sorry.

TeaCat:

And I get down on my knees.

TeaCat:

I beg your forgiveness.

TeaCat:

Please.

TeaCat:

Don't toss me out.

TeaCat:

Don't let the priest take me.

Robert:

I actually go down to a knee.

Robert:

Tova, it is okay.

Robert:

It was not you.

Robert:

You're okay.

Robert:

I am okay.

Robert:

You're, you're normal.

Robert:

You're normal.

Robert:

Throwing a fist was slightly off target.

Robert:

I will assume it's because you realized it was me you were hitting.

Robert:

I wouldn't want to impugn your, uh, pugilistic skills.

Robert:

Of

TeaCat:

course not, Doctor.

TeaCat:

I would like to say that I'll do better next time, but

TeaCat:

hopefully that will be there.

TeaCat:

Perhaps I shall bake you your favorite cake when we get home.

TeaCat:

As repentance, of course.

Evelyn:

It was a solid right hook.

Robert:

You're welcome.

Robert:

That, that would be lovely.

Robert:

Uh, and, and with that, he, I, I, uh, offer to help Tova, first to her

Robert:

feet, and then to a chair, um, where I can examine her further, make sure

Robert:

that there is, you know, there's nothing else unusual going, going on.

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: So you do, uh, she sits down, um, uh, and you're

Robert:

able to kind of check her over and you realize that everything seems

Robert:

okay from a physical standpoint.

Robert:

Tova, the one thing to note is, as your realization and awakening

Robert:

back up happened, you felt an icy chill leave your heart.

TeaCat:

Doctor.

TeaCat:

Doctor.

TeaCat:

It, there's this strange feeling, I mean the fuzzy haze is going away,

TeaCat:

but it felt like perhaps ice daggers coming, coming out of my heart.

TeaCat:

I don't know what to make of it, doctor.

TeaCat:

It's all chilly, but it's gone now, like jealousy maybe, something.

TeaCat:

I can't quite put my finger on it.

Robert:

I

Robert:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: do check her heartbeat.

Robert:

And it seems from a physical standpoint to be completely fine.

Robert:

I do believe you were possessed for a moment.

TeaCat:

There they go.

TeaCat:

Going

Robert:

after the

TeaCat:

weak and old and feeble ones.

TeaCat:

Not the young ones.

TeaCat:

And I look over at Klaus.

Robert:

I, I, I, I chuckle, Tova.

Robert:

I do not think anyone here would dare call you weak.

Robert:

Unless you test your pugilistic skills on them, too.

Robert:

And I give her a little bit of a wink.

TeaCat:

I soft chuckle.

Erik:

I'm sensing a lot of hostility at this side of the room.

Erik:

Especially with the one with the gun.

Erik:

So I'm gonna not be here.

Erik:

I'll walk over to Helena.

Erik:

All right.

Erik:

How about you and I get some stuff done.

Erik:

Take a peek around here.

Evelyn:

Uh, she'll kind of, um, so I pushed the chair, um, out again.

Evelyn:

Um, well, I, I thought I could get back to what I was attempting to

Evelyn:

do before all of that happened.

Evelyn:

Um, so I think that might be the most useful, um, execution of my abilities.

Evelyn:

Perhaps, um, and so she'll sort of straighten, ah, I'll kind of straighten

Evelyn:

myself out a little bit and then, um, Uh, return the chair back to where

Evelyn:

it was perfectly placed, um, And, uh, resume perch, the, the, the comfortably

Evelyn:

perch sitting, um, on the edge of the chair, Um, pick up the pencil and Um,

Evelyn:

I'll close my eyes and clear my mind and I hear the rain on the window pain

Evelyn:

and listen to the sounds of my breath and my heart and just kind of push

Evelyn:

all the sound away from me and open up myself to whatever spirits are present.

Evelyn:

And I place my hand with the pencil loosely held between my fingers,

Evelyn:

keeping every muscle in my body as relaxed as possible, because

Evelyn:

it's not me who does the writing.

Evelyn:

I open myself up as a conduit for the words to come.

Evelyn:

As

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: you do, go ahead and give me your roll.

Evelyn:

Okay, now let me double check cuz I don't remember how many.

Evelyn:

It's inspiration.

Evelyn:

It's inspiration.

Evelyn:

Okay, that's right.

Evelyn:

So then I use Empathy plus inspiration That's gonna be nine dice

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Then hopefully there's a success in there somewhere.

Evelyn:

Hopefully.

Evelyn:

Oh, oh, oh.

Evelyn:

One, two, three, four sixes Out of my nine dice.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right.

Evelyn:

So four sixes.

Evelyn:

And as it says, uh, on this talent, um, extra successes reveal more clues.

Evelyn:

So, uh, you begin to write and you begin to write very freely, uh, and, and you

Evelyn:

will finish reading this, obviously, uh, after all of the writing has finished.

Evelyn:

Uh, finished, but some of the things that you are able to learn include the

Evelyn:

creature that has been wreaking havoc on this place is not a relative of Sammy's.

Evelyn:

The creature is Sam.

Evelyn:

Oscar Hjort.

Evelyn:

You learned about Oscar, if you remember.

Evelyn:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Evelyn:

From your research.

Evelyn:

That

Evelyn:

explains the references, because during the, the, the shadow play, there

Evelyn:

was the, the callback to the Versailles and the Palais Royale, which we learned

Evelyn:

that Oscar studied under the French artist who did the shadow plays there.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: Correct.

Evelyn:

Um, you also know, what?

Evelyn:

that Oscar is seeking revenge for those that killed him.

Evelyn:

Okay.

Evelyn:

You also learn, you had four successes, right?

Evelyn:

You learn the names Albert Rendenhelm, Katja Kokkola, and

Evelyn:

Hilma Aff Fullenstierna, which I will, I will give you those.

Evelyn:

Thank you.

Evelyn:

In

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: chat.

Evelyn:

Um, They are the members that Oscar is attempting revenge against.

Evelyn:

And finally, you learn that Oscar has been dead for almost 50 years.

Evelyn:

Now, who's looking on the bookshelf?

Evelyn:

On the shelves.

Evelyn:

Uh,

Erik:

that would be me.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: All right.

Erik:

So, uh, you were looking, and one of the things that you

Erik:

noticed on the bookshelves, that there were a variety of a cult.

Erik:

Um, let's see, um, do you want to, are, are you interested

Erik:

in perusing through them?

Erik:

Uh, are you looking for anything in them?

Erik:

Obviously a cult is kind of what the society is about.

Erik:

Absolutely.

Erik:

I'm going through trying to get a glimpse while, uh, Helena's doing her thing.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: What are you trying to learn?

Erik:

Maybe what sort of creature might've come from this circumstance, if

Erik:

that is what these books might contain.

Erik:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: It does contain information about it.

Erik:

Um, and it's.

Erik:

You find information about ghosts, and spirits, and revenants, and one

Erik:

of the things that you note is that revenants must find peace in order

Erik:

to be banished, and that the body must be buried in hallowed ground.

Erik:

Or, uh, uh, Klaus kind of turns the rest of them.

Erik:

Now, I don't know how accurate this book here book is, but I'm thinking that

Erik:

what we're dealing with is a revenant.

Evelyn:

That would make sense.

Erik:

The only way to deal with that sort of thing is to bring peace and

Erik:

bury the body on hallowed ground.

Erik:

So, looks like we got to work, uh, Quite cut out for us.

Robert:

Who is the revenant we're looking for?

Evelyn:

Well and I sort of blink a few times as the the channeling sort

Evelyn:

of Ceases I look down at a a script that is very much not my handwriting

Evelyn:

It's quite It's it's quite Loopy and a little more than, uh, what I've learned.

Evelyn:

Um, and, um, I kind of look at the others and say, Yes, um, the creature,

Evelyn:

um, this revenant, I think you called it, um, it's Oscar, your, um, He's the

Evelyn:

one I believe we found information on in

Erik:

the playwright from Paris

Evelyn:

Uh, well, he was a writer.

Evelyn:

Um, he was also a thursday's child who studied under the Well, the Parisian

Evelyn:

shadow puppet, um, practitioner, I guess would be the best word to put it.

Evelyn:

He was a artist, um, the Francois Théraphine.

Evelyn:

Uh, he did, uh, shadow plays for the court at Versailles in the Palais Royal.

Evelyn:

Um, yes, um, it explains the obsession with the Shadowblaze.

Evelyn:

Um, Oscar seems to be the one who is wreaking havoc here.

Evelyn:

And, um, he's seeking, uh, vengeance on those who killed him.

Evelyn:

Um, Albert, Ren, Denhaim, Katja, Kokkola, and Hilma Affluensterna.

Evelyn:

Um, And these are the names I have from this and, um, he's been dead for almost

Evelyn:

50 years, which would, uh, make sense with the timeline that we understood of him.

Evelyn:

Uh, these names, I do not know their relevance, uh, but perhaps

Evelyn:

we can look more into the resources we have and see if we can figure

Evelyn:

out who they might have been.

Robert:

Do we know where Oscar died?

Robert:

Um,

Evelyn:

I would assume here if he is haunting the place.

Evelyn:

Uh, that's sort of how most ghosts work, but um, I am

Erik:

God, I hope so.

Erik:

I do not relish.

Erik:

Find a corpse that's been dead for 50 years and hug him

Erik:

all the way to a churchyard.

Erik:

That sounds, uh, Like a day and a half.

Robert:

Pity visiting Paris might have been nice.

Evelyn:

Oh, it means there's nothing stopping us from visiting

Evelyn:

Paris But I think we might want to focus on the task at hand for now.

Evelyn:

Terry Dana Jachimiak II: You also find in this room the journal entries

Evelyn:

that Nora, Sofia's mother, made.

Evelyn:

I will drop you that in chat.

Evelyn:

Well, well, well.

Evelyn:

What an interesting turn of events.

Evelyn:

First, dealing with a man who is attempting to kill himself

Evelyn:

for the sins of his past.

Evelyn:

And then, a ghostly apparition once again.

Evelyn:

But this time, it seems taking control of Tova, who appears to be

Evelyn:

ready for battle against anyone.

Evelyn:

And now, journal entries.

Evelyn:

Strange readings.

Evelyn:

By the Mother Gone and Dead.
